The RLD Department drives academic inquiry, innovation, and knowledge creation at Texas International College — publishing peer-reviewed research, hosting national conferences, and incubating student startups through the Texas Business Incubation Center.
Research, Learning & Development
The Research, Learning and Development (RLD) Department at Texas International College is the intellectual engine of the institution — fostering a culture of academic inquiry, innovation, and evidence-based practice across all programs and disciplines.
Supported by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Tribhuvan University (TU), the RLD Department coordinates national conferences, peer-reviewed publications, field-based research, and student-led innovation initiatives. It also manages seed funding and mentorship through the Texas Business Incubation Center (TBIC).
The department works in close collaboration with faculty, students, industry practitioners, government agencies, and international scholars to ensure that research output from Texas is relevant, rigorous, and impactful — contributing to Nepal’s national development agenda and the broader academic community.
🔬 Academic Research
Peer-reviewed publication, field studies and systematic reviews across management, IT and social sciences — from cybersecurity readiness in Nepali SMEs to AI-assisted personalised learning, energy efficiency in data centres, green tourism and digital equity.
🏛️ National Conferences
Three editions since December 2024, growing from a national conference into one that draws presenters from eight countries, convening academics, industry practitioners and policymakers.
🚀 Business Incubation
TBIC backs student founders with a startup seed fund of up to Rs 5 lakh, mentorship, workspace and a direct route from research to a registered venture.
📚 Capacity Building
UGC-supported research training in SPSS, NVivo and AMOS for faculty and students, alongside the research methods courses built into every programme.

Formal agreements with employers, community organisations and international partners that convert into internships, placements and applied research briefs.

UGC-Funded Research & Training
In March 2025 Texas International College was selected for the University Grants Commission Capacity Development Program (Research Training) for FY 2081/82. The grant was secured by the RLD Department and is directed at building research capability among both faculty and students.
Both of the college conference proceedings were produced with the support of the University Grants Commission and Tribhuvan University.

🧪 SPSS, NVivo & AMOS
A four-day intensive faculty training coordinated by RLD with UGC support, run jointly with Texas College of Management & IT. Pre-reading, software installation and hands-on analysis, with guidance from Dinesh Basnet and Raju Raut.
🌱 Entrepreneur Support Program
Twelve days of intensive UGC-supported sessions in which students worked directly with practising entrepreneurs through workshops, case studies, simulations and one-to-one mentoring.
Three Editions, Eight Countries
The college convenes an annual research conference bringing together academics, industry practitioners and policymakers. Three editions have run since December 2024, growing from a national event into one drawing presenters from eight countries.
📄 1st National Conference
Integrating IT for Management Innovation and Organizational Sustainability — 20–21 December 2024. Around 52 research papers across 7 parallel technical sessions. Speakers included Prof. Dr. Dev Raj Adhikari, Chairperson of the UGC, and Er. Ganesh Shah, former Minister for Science and Technology.
📚 Innovating Higher Education
55 papers spanning AI in education and banking security, cybersecurity awareness among senior bank executives, SME resilience and sustainable operations. Featuring Prof. Dr. Dev Raj Adhikari and Prof. Dr. Achyut Prasad Wagle.
🌏 2nd International Conference
Driving Management and IT for Sustainability, Prosperity and Posterity in the 21st Century — 6 September 2026, Park Village Resort, Budhanilkantha. 45+ presenters, 150+ registered participants, 6 parallel sessions, 8 countries.
2nd International Conference — guests and chairs. Chief Guest: Prof. Dr. Khadga Bahadur K.C., Chairperson, University Grants Commission, Nepal. Special Guest: Prof. Dr. Tirth Raj Khaniya, former Vice Chancellor, Tribhuvan University. Guest of Honour: Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel, Dean, Kathmandu University School of Education. A pre-conference session on academic article writing was led by Prof. Dr. Santosh Rangnekar (IIT Roorkee) and Prof. Dr. Surya Prakash Singh (IIT Delhi) at the Mitrapark campus.
Sadgamaya — Our Research Journal
Sadgamaya is the research journal of the Texas education network, indexed on NepJOL (Nepal Journals Online). Since its second issue in January 2025 it has also been published globally in physical copy through a collaboration with Open Science Publishers.
The journal accepts submissions from faculty, students and external researchers. Calls for articles are announced ahead of each issue — see current notices or contact the RLD Department.
From Coursework to Published Paper
Research at Texas is built into the curriculum rather than bolted on. Every programme carries a formal research component.

Recognised by NASA
In June 2025 Bipin Saud, a seventh-semester BSc CSIT student at Texas International College, was formally recognised by NASA for identifying critical vulnerabilities on one of its websites.
Student innovation also runs through the Texas Hackathon, now in its second volume, organised by the student Texsphere team under the motto Ignite · Invent · Innovate.
