⚠️ The main notice states that applicants who miss the test are not eligible for admission in that year. Check the official notice board for any further round.
ℹ️ What about the next cycle? The 2084 (2027) notice has not been published yet. In 2026 the main notice appeared in mid-June, after the Grade 12 results. Use that as a rough guide, not a promise, and watch fomecd.edu.np.
CMAT Eligibility Criteria
The Faculty of Management keeps the criteria fairly open. The 2083 (2026) notice accepts either of the two options below.
Academic Qualification
- Option 1: Minimum grade D in theory and grade C in practical in each subject, with a CGPA of 1.8 or more in grades 11 and 12.
- Option 2: Minimum second division marks in 10+2, PCL or an equivalent qualification, in any discipline.
The notice does not restrict applicants by stream. Science, humanities, management and other graduates can all apply if they meet the threshold. The notices we reviewed state no age limit, but check the current notice before you apply.
💡 The Re-CMAT notice uses the same eligibility wording as the main notice. There is no easier standard for the second sitting. If you are still waiting for Grade 11 and 12 results, confirm in the current official notice whether you may apply and when certificates must be submitted.
Programs That Require CMAT
The 2083 (2026) notice lists eight bachelor programs under the Faculty of Management. Some third-party pages list only four, so rely on the official notice.
| Program | Full name |
|---|---|
| BBA | Bachelor of Business Administration |
| BBM | Bachelor of Business Management |
| BITM | Bachelor of Information Technology Management |
| BPA | Bachelor of Public Administration |
| BHM | Bachelor of Hotel Management |
| BTTM | Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management |
| BBA-F | Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance |
| BMS | Bachelor of Mountaineering Studies |
CMAT applies to bachelor-level admission. It is not the entrance route for master’s programs such as the MBA. Not every campus offers every program, so check your chosen campus before you apply.
CMAT Application Process in Nepal
Follow these steps in order. Missing one can cost you your seat for the year.
- Check your eligibility. Compare your Grade 11 and 12 results against the two options above.
- Choose your campus and program. Fill the form for the campus where you want to study, and make sure it offers your program.
- Choose a test center. The Re-CMAT notice offered seven test centers. You select one before submitting the form.
- Complete the online application. Use the link on fomecd.edu.np or tudoms.org.
- Pay the fee. The fee in the 2083 notices was Rs 1,000, paid to the Management Dean’s Office through the online payment system. Copy payment details only from the official notice.
- Submit the form with documents through a campus that offers your program.
- Get campus verification. The campus verifies each form before the deadline. Do not leave this to the last day.
- Download your admit card and sit the exam. Carry the admit card and valid identification.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The official notices do not publish the f ull pattern. The table below reflects what education portals report, so treat it as a guide and check the Faculty of Management information booklet.
| Section | Questions (reported) | Marks (reported) |
|---|---|---|
| Verbal Ability | 25 | 25 |
| Quantitative Ability | 25 | 25 |
| Logical Reasoning | 25 | 25 |
| General Awareness | 25 | 25 |
| Total | 100 | 100 |
- Format: Objective, multiple-choice questions on paper (reported).
- Duration: Sources conflict, with one saying 90 minutes and another saying 2 hours.
- Negative marking: One source says there is none. Confirm before exam day.
- Qualifying mark: One source lists 35 out of 100.
- Exam time: The main exam started at 8:00 AM. The 2025 and 2026 Re-CMAT sessions started at 1:00 PM.
⚠️ Because these details have conflicted, read your admit card and the notice for your sitting.
How CMAT Admission Works
Passing CMAT does not by itself guarantee a seat. Admission follows this sequence:
- CMAT score: You receive your result after the exam.
- Shortlisting: Campuses shortlist applicants who score above their own cutoff.
- College steps: Many campuses add an interview or presentation. Requirements vary by campus.
- Final selection: The campus publishes its admitted list, ranked on merit.
- Enrollment: You submit your certificates and pay admission fees by the campus deadline.
If you are admitted while your results are pending, keep your Grade 11 and 12 certificates ready. TU management colleges in Nepal may require them at enrollment.
CMAT Cutoff in Nepal
Students often mix up several different numbers. They mean different things:
- Qualifying score: The minimum mark needed to be considered a pass in CMAT.
- College cutoff: The mark a specific campus uses to shortlist applicants for a specific program.
- Merit rank: Your position among all applicants for that campus and program.
- Final selection: The seats filled after shortlisting and any interview.
Key point: Cutoffs differ by campus and year. Popular campuses usually require much higher scores than newer ones, so aim well above the qualifying mark.
How to Prepare for CMAT in Nepal
CMAT rewards steady practice more than last-minute cramming. Here is how to approach it.
- Start with the syllabus. List all four sections and rate yourself on each topic. Spend the most time on your weakest area, but do not drop your strongest one.
- Create a study schedule. Study daily, even for 90 minutes. Fixed hours work better than long, irregular sessions.
- Practice quantitative and reasoning questions. Solve timed sets, because speed matters.
- Build your English. Read one editorial or article each day. Note unfamiliar words and review them weekly.
- Follow current affairs. Read a Nepali and an English news source. Keep short notes on economy, policy and major events.
- Take mock tests and review mistakes. Take a full mock test every week in the final month. After each one, write down why you missed each question.
30-Day CMAT Study Plan
| Week | Focus |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Read the syllabus. Revise basic maths and grammar. Take a diagnostic test. |
| Week 2 | Quantitative ability and verbal ability. Solve timed practice sets daily. |
| Week 3 | Logical reasoning, general awareness and current affairs. Two sectional tests. |
| Week 4 | Full-length mock tests, error analysis and light revision. |
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Studying only your favorite section
- Skipping timed practice
- Ignoring general awareness because it feels unpredictable
- Waiting for the notice before starting
- Applying on the last day and missing campus verification
CMAT Previous Year Question Papers
Previous papers show you the question style, difficulty and time pressure. Use them after you finish one round of the syllabus. Ask your campus or a preparation class whether they share past papers, then work through them like this:
- Attempt each paper in one sitting under a timer.
- Mark your answers, then read the explanations.
- Track repeated weak topics.
- Revisit those topics before the next paper.
Choosing a CMAT College
Campuses accepting CMAT scores include constituent and affiliated TU campuses in Kathmandu Valley and across Nepal. The right one depends on your program, budget, location and goals. Compare colleges on these criteria:
- TU affiliation and program availability
- Faculty qualifications and class size
- Admission process and cutoff history
- Verified fees and scholarships
- Internships, placement support and alumni outcomes
CMAT vs KUUMAT and Other Entrance Exams
CMAT is TU’s central test for its management programs. KUUMAT is Kathmandu University’s own entrance test for its programs.
| Factor | CMAT | KUUMAT |
|---|---|---|
| Conducted by | TU Faculty of Management | Kathmandu University |
| Used for | TU management programs | KU programs |
| Applies at | Many campuses | KU school of management |
Many students apply to more than one route. That keeps your options open if one outcome falls short, so plan your preparation to cover both.
